Here at Fountain City UMC, we believe the Church is called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We believe Jesus empowered and commissioned us as His followers to heal the cracks in our world, to love the way He loved, to finish the work of making disciples and changing lives. We believe, wholeheartedly, this is our calling, this is our focus, this is our privilege.
To celebrate this calling, and to invite our community to join us, FCUMC will hold our annual Missions Celebration weekend on April 13-15. Each year during this special weekend, we host representatives from the various local, national, and global ministries we support through our Faith Promise commitments. These guests will come and share their stories on Friday during our kick-off dinner (because Jesus + pasta = true love) and on Sunday during all three worship services and in Sunday school classes.
And on Saturday is our annual Rise Against Hunger meal packing event! This year, our goal is to pack 40,176 meals to send around the globe to our most impoverished brothers and sisters. This is a truly multi-generational event, from our youngest members to our wisest helping every step of the way.
We will need 200 volunteers of all ages and abilities to pack all those boxes! Registration to sign up for one of the shifts is now live! Click any one of those fancy blue words to sign up today!
In anticipation of our 2018 Missions Celebration, the Missions Committee is asking you to complete a survey and join us in recognizing, understanding, and building upon the missions and ministries we support through all of the different avenues at FCUMC: through ministry groups, Sunday school classes, small groups, etc. (after all, “where two or more gather,” in His name, right?). It is our hope to use this information in celebration of the work we as a church have done and also in looking ahead to expand our reach. The Missions Committee thanks you for your ministry and commitment to make disciples and change lives.
