Children’s Ministry

Fountain Kids Ministry

Fountain Kids Ministry provides a loving, caring and safe environment for children to learn and grow in their faith. Children six months- 5th grade and their families are provided with tools to enhance faith experiences at home as well as at church. Fountain City United Methodist Church, through Fountain Kids, strives to partner with parents through the most important phases of a child’s life.

We are intentional in our teachings each week.

Fountain Littles uses the First Look curriculum. Please feel free to check out First Look and Ollie Owl!

Fountain Kids uses 252 Basics curriculum based on Luke 2:52 ‘Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” Check it out!

    FAQ
Sunday Fountain Kids & Fountain Littles FAQs:

What if I have a baby or toddler and it’s my first visit?
Come to the Welcome Center located mid hallway and someone from our Sunday staff will assist you in setting up an account. Please include any special needs, allergies, etc. for your child and let the childcare staff individual know as well.

How will I find the baby or toddler room?
Visit the Welcome center and a childcare volunteer will assist you to the room and give you a tour.

What if it’s my chidren’s first time?
Same procedure to create a check in account as above and a Fountain Kids leader will walk you and your child to the second floor, give you a short tour of our themed classes. If it is your first time, you will be asked by the Fountain Kids Leader which service or class you are attending. You will be escorted to the service of your choice or a Sunday School class.

Will my child have snacks in their class?
We do provide snacks for Fountain Littles (goldfish, animal crackers, water). K-5th graders have snacks available upon entrance at the Welcome Center with parents. We only provide snacks for K-5th grade on Sunday morning if it is a special occasion and parents have prior notification.

If my child becomes ill or has an event, how will I be notified?
One of our leaders will come and get you. That is the reason that your location is entered when you check your child in through Kidcheck.

    Wednesday Night FAQs:

What if I am in choir or a Celebrate Recovery Step Study class that goes past 7:30 p.m.?

    Safety Guidelines

Your child’s safety is important to us! KidCheck is a secure check-in for the safety of our Fountain Kids. The check-in stations are located on first floor at the Welcome Center, and on the second floor in the children’s rooms (two stations). The parent receives a printed Fountain Kids guardian label for child pick-up and the child wears a Fountain Kids name tag for identification and allergy alert in class. Upon pickup, the Fountain Kids guardian label is matched to the child’s label by an adult at the classroom door. If you are new and do not have an account, please create your child’s account with the KidCheck link abouve. Fountain Kids follows the Safe Sanctuaries policy of FCUMC. All paid and volunteer workers are background checked and fully trained.

    Safe Sanctuaries
Recognizing the growing threat of child abuse and its presence even among God’s own people, the 1996 General Conference adopted a resolution on “Reducing the Risk of Child Sexual Abuse in the Church” which states, “God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual and ritual abuse. God calls us to create communities of faith where children and adults grow safe and strong.” Safe Sanctuaries is the movement and initiative to fulfill this call upon us – to make our churches safe places for the young and the vulnerable and those in ministry with them.

For any of our off-campus events, a medical release form is necessary for participation.
