I. General Description
The Director of Children’s Ministries is responsible for overseeing the entire Children’s Ministry (birth through 5th grade). The specific responsibilities are to organize, coordinate, recruit, and train for all children’s programs at Fountain City UMC and supervise children’s ministry interns. This is a full-time position (approximately 32 hours/week).
II. Reports to: The Director of Church Operations
III. Supervision Responsibilities
a. Coordinator of Early Childhood Ministry (ECM)
b. Children’s Ministry Interns (when applicable)
IV. Expectations of Director of Children’s Ministries
a. Exemplify and implement our mission statement through staff and volunteers who interact with children: Making disciples and changing lives.
b. Collaborate directly with Coordinator of ECM.
c. Recruit, train, supervise, and retain volunteers.
d. Organize and facilitate curriculum training for teachers.
e. Annually select, develop, and evaluate curriculum in conjunction with Children’s Ministry Team (CMT).
f. Convene and facilitate CMT meetings at least quarterly.
g. Work with CMT to plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate children’s ministry events.
h. Train all volunteers regarding SafeSanctuary policies.
i. Follow SafeSanctuary policy of FCUMC in all children’s activities.
j. Develop the annual budget for Children’s Ministry in collaboration with the CMT and Director of Church Operations.
k. Ensure that Children’s Ministry resources are identified, organized, maintained, and made available for use.
l. Support FCUMC Preschool and assist in the coordination and dialogue about facility use and maintenance with the Preschool Director and the Coordinator of ECM. Serve as member of the Preschool Board.
m. Coordinate Children’s Worship.
n. Assist Director of Music in planning music program for children.
o. Serve as staff liaison for scouting programs of FCUMC.
V. Qualifications
a. Strong Christian commitment reflected in a love for God and a commitment to continued personal, spiritual growth.
b. Love for children.
c. A commitment to the mission statement of Fountain City UMC.
d. Possess strong organizational, communication and scheduling skills.
e. Possess strong sense of creativity.
f. Possess strong leadership qualities.
g. Proficiency in computer skills such as PowerPoint, Excel Word, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite.
h. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
i. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in children’s programming preferred.

4. Preschool Board Meetings
5. Weekly Church Staff meetings
b. Pursue continuing education training annually.
c. Train to drive church mini bus.
d. Possess the ability to work with staff in a team environment.
e. Foster positive interpersonal relations with staff and volunteers.
f. Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.
