Children’s Ministry Internship

The mission of Fountain City United Methodist Church is
“To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of our community and world.”

I. General Description

Fountain City UMC is seeking Children’s Ministry interns for the 2017-2018 school year. Interns will work in tandem with the Children’s Ministry Team (CMT) to plan and implement curriculum and programming. Interns will be hired to work primarily with Kindergarten through 5th grade. Sunday morning programming will run from 8:30am-12:00pm, with arrival expected at 8:00am. Wednesday evening programming will run from 6:30pm-7:30pm, with arrival expected at 6:00pm. Planning time will be scheduled accordingly.

This is a part-time position offering $10/hour, primarily Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings with potential for Tuesday evenings. Please note, Staffers must commit to being present for a negotiated number of Sundays and Wednesdays during the semester. Interns will be responsible for coordinating absences with other staffers, CMT, and the Director of Children’s Ministry. You must have reliable transportation.

II. Reports to:  The Children’s Ministry Team via Director of Children’s Ministry

III. Responsibilities of Children’s Ministry Interns

a. Supervise children.
b. Plan and implement games, crafts, and other activities.
c. Plan and implement lessons from provided curriculum.
d. Communicate with and address the concerns of parents in a professional manner.
e. Coordinate with CMT, church staff, and other interns.
f. Reinforce and abide by Safe Sanctuary guidelines.

V. Qualifications

a. High school graduate.
b. A Christ-centered testimony.
c. Experience working with children.
d. Love for and ability to effectively communicate and work with children.

VI. Other Expectations

a. An understanding of and appreciation for the Methodist tradition is not required but is preferential.
b. Must have reliable transportation.
