In one way or another, I feel I’ve served God my entire working life. From twelve years in law enforcement, to five years working in public education, I have strived to maintain a servant’s heart in everything I have done. Through many turns and trials, I did my best to keep my mind fixed on the idea of service to others being my calling. I see my service not just as a calling, but as a ministry. I have developed a varied skill set over my working life, and I’m now able to put them all to use to serve God. The gift of being able to do this at Fountain City United Methodist Church, my lifelong home church, is not lost on me.
I am a native of Fountain City and a proud Central High School grad. I also attended Emory & Henry College in beautiful southwestern Virginia. My wife, Alice, and I have three boys: Aidan, Cole, and Connor. We also have three dogs, who among them have only four eyes (figure that one out yourself). I’m a ravenous NHL hockey and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, a self-styled science fiction and pop culture subject matter expert, an aficionado of arbitrary musical genres, and quite the coffee snob. In my leisure time, you can usually find me occupied by one of those pursuits, a book on espionage, or occupying my recliner with a dog.
