Here at Fountain City UMC, we believe the Church is called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We believe Jesus empowered and commissioned us as his followers to heal the cracks in our world, to love the way he loved, to finish the work of making disciples and changing lives. We believe, wholeheartedly, this is our calling, this is our focus, this is our privilege.
FCUMC celebrated this commitment with our annual Missions Celebration on March 29-31.
KICK OFF DINNER
On Friday March 29, we had our kick off dinner where approximately 70 people enjoyed Doug’s delicious lasagna dinner while Linda Stransky of Jubilee Project, Inc. spoke about this important ministry in Hancock County and how our support of their mission benefits the residents there.
Thank you to our youth group and others who helped unpack the Rise Against Hunger truck on Friday evening!
RISE AGAINST HUNGER MEAL PACKING EVENT
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Rise Against Hunger meal packing event on Saturday March 30! We had 206 people volunteer and reached our goal of packing over 40,000 meals. We have packed 220,000 meals at FCUMC over the course of six years and we could not have done this without you!
FAITH PROMISE SUNDAY
Sunday, we heard from some our Faith Promise partners during the Sunday School hour. We had Helen Roberts-Evans via skype from Liberia; Sharon Earl & friends from Wesley House; and Rev. Mike Sluder from Holston Conference. We were also blessed to have Linda Stransky with the Jubilee Project, Inc. and Rev. Dr. Sharon Bowers with UTK Wesley Foundation who shared with us during our worship services. Throughout the weekend, we also enjoyed shopping Fair Trade items at Shop the World Gifts!
