The Envision Committee spent a lot of time doing just that: envisioning what a second campus would mean to the growing FCUMC congregation. Space at 212 Hotel Road is at a premium, with many different events happening every day of the week. Shifting some of the current ministries to this second campus would give them room to grow and deepen, as well as potentially alleviate some of the complexities of setting up and tearing down rooms multiple times a day, for multiple uses.
If acquired, the building’s primary, initial use would be for Celebrate Recovery’s worship service, Open Share groups, and Step Study classes.
We would also plan to launch a contemporary-style worship service scheduled for a non-traditional day and time. A third primary use would involve maximizing the building’s layout to enhance our Adults 50+ ministry with additional events.
It is important to note, there are currently no plans for Sunday morning worship services at the second campus. We feel this would create conflicts for worship and Sunday school class attendance.
In addition to these primary, immediate plans for a second campus, the Envision Committee presented many secondary uses as we continue to grow.
Some secondary and alternative uses that could attract Dry Gap community members and meet some of the needs identified there are:
- After-School Programming;
- Youth 5th Quarter events designed to offer a safe space for our youth to hang out after football games;
- Movie nights and other seasonal family events;
- Care groups and financial classes;
- Family Promise;
- A Hispanic worship service;
- A community garden.
We invite you to dream big for this space, as we continue to learn more and firm up the facts and implications of a second campus. You can email email@example.com with all of your great ideas, comments, and insights.
